Brown Bess Rifle
The Brown Bess was probably the most famous rifle of the Colonial period. It was a .75 calibre, muzzle loading rifled musket, and served in the British Army for over forty years until it was replaced by the .57 cal Enfield. This model is a replica of an Indian-built Bess, favoured because of its lower production cost. The second picture is of the Brown Bess carbine. It is the same rifle, only shorter.
