Le Protector
In 1882, Jaques E. Turbiaux obtained French patent no. 149466 for this squeeze-actuated pistol, probably the first true "zip gun" ever made. Designed as an assassin's pistol, the user places it in their palm with the barrel protruding between two fingers. To actuate the trigger, they press in on the spring loaded trigger lever. It fired a short, 6mm round, and coupled with the short barrel and crude firing method, accuracy was neglegable, but it was more than sufficient in close range for its intended use. It carried ten rounds in a radial magazine.<P> Just for trivia's sake, this was the pistol Steven Seagal was playing with in his office in "Marked for Death".
