KPB PP90-M (RUSSIA)
Based on an American design from the mid-1980s, the PP-90M is a submachinegun that can be folded in half. When folded, the weapon is similar in size and shape to a large handheld radio. To unfold, the operator simply grasps the two halves of the weapon and pulls them apart. The handgrip containing the magazine folds down from one end which serves as a buttstock, while the other end contains the barrel, as well as the trigger and operating system. The entire unfolding process can be completed in two seconds. The PP-90M is a blowback-operated weapon that fires full auto only. There is no safety, either internal or external, although the weapon can only fire from its extended position. Crude iron sights are fitted but must be manually lifted into place by the firer. The PP-90M’s intended use as a last-ditch, close-in submachinegun is reflected in its construction. The weapon is mostly stamped steel, with sharp, unfinished edges. As a result, the PP-90M has a reputation of pinching the user’s hands and being generally uncomfortable to fire. The PP-90M1 is identical with the exception of caliber
