FOLLOWING INFORMATIONS FROM: http://www.wapahani.com/addar.html "Considered by many to be a sub-machinegun, the Zastava however is chambered in the Western 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge. Based on the Russian AKS-74U design, the weapon was chambered in the 5.56 round to attract foreign sales across the world. The manufacturers of the weapon have been manufacturing it since 1987, despite others classifying it as an assault carbine the makers referto it as a Sub-Machinegun due to it's compact size. The weapon is popular with mercenaries due to it's compact size, the ease and availability of ammunition and the weapon itself on the world market".
