Star Military Model 1
The first Echeverria pistol was the model 1908, substantially a mannlicher Model 1900 in 6.35 mm. The Model 1914 (pictured at the bottom) is an improved version of this, with knurled portions at the rear of the slide to assist cocking. Both of these Echeverria pistols differ from the Mannlicher in having a grip of more 'normal' style, and a magazine removable from the bottom in the currently conventional manner. The pistols also strip slightly more efficiently. The Model 1 Militar (pictured) is basically a 7.65 mm caliber version of the Model 1914 designed for the French military, who referred to them as "Pistolet automatique, type Star." Besides the larger caliber, it also sported a longer barrel, heavier construction and some additional mechanical refinements. It was also made in 6.35 mm and 9 mm Browning Short (.380 ACP) calibers for commercial sales. Production ceased in 1929.
