Star Model Z-84 9mm SMG
The Z-84 again replaced the previous Star SMGs, starting in the mid 1980s. It is currently used by the Spanish Army in 9 mm Parabellum, to match their pistols (and the NATO countries finally), but is still offered in 9 mm Largo. It is a totally different design from all previous Star machine guns and incorporates a rectangular pressed steel receiver and a wrap-around style bolt like the Uzi. The magazine is inserted through the grip and the safety lever is behind the trigger, inside the trigger guard. The fire selector is a separate sliding switch above the trigger on the side of the receiver. It has a steel buttstock which may be folded over the top for storage. Besides being issued to the Spanish armed forces, it has reportedly been sold to several unnamed foreign security forces. More information at: http://www.donttouchme.com/star
