Enfield SA-80 & SLR
The top photo is a good comparison of the British SLR (top) and it's replacement, the SA-80 (bottom). It does give a comparison of the conventional layout compared to the bullpup style. The SLR is fitted with an optical sight - forerunner to the SUSAT now standard on the SA-80. The bottom photo shows another SA-80, this time fitted with a "Fakir" torch for use in urban ops. Both photos were taken during a tour in Northern Ireland (Belfast). At that time the SA-80 was our standard infantry rifle, the SLR belonged to supporting arms (in this case our driver from a Transport Regiment). They were later replaced by SA-80's fitted with iron sights.
