FM 24/29! LMG Châtellerault 1924/1929
Light Machine Gun Chatellerault 24/29 (model 1924 modified 1929) Study launched in 1918 to replace all other LMG's ( Chauchat, Hotchkiss, Saint Etienne 1907 ) adopted 1922, started service in 1924, ammunition was 7.5 x 57 mm changed into 7.5 x 54 mm in 1929 ,( cartridge 7.5 mm modèle 29C )to avoid accidents in case a german 8x57 mm would be introduced, the new case is shorter and fatter than the 1924 version hence the name:24/29. Weight: 9800 g;20 rounds magazines, gas operated, 600 RPM, one trigger for single fire, one for automatic fire.maximum range , 2000 meters; do not mix up this LMG with Czech ZB 30 made in Brno in 8x57 after 1933 which became the BREN ( short for Brno/ Enfield ) after czech technicians escaped during the german invasion and started to work on .303 version in 1938. the french LMG inspired the ZB 30 not the other way round.
