WSG-2000
The WSG-2000 was projected to be fed by an 8-rounds magazine, in bullpup configuration. The bullet it chambered was an experimental (as the whole weapon) 9x90mm-MEN, a cross between a light snipering bullet and an AMR ammunition. It had high penetration, high precision, high range, high performance at all. The scope was a real FIRE CONTROL COMPUTER. It had an integrated rangefinder, a 12x magnification (or so I remember), and automatically calculated distance, wind direction, and anything else that a sniper needs for a good shot. It was a magnificent sniper weapon, though. Its doom was caused by the end of the cold war. The german Army, which asked for a super-technologic and ULTIMATE sniper rifle, didn't needed it anymore, as they didn't needed anymore a super assault rifle (I'm talking about the G11). So, just as the G11 project, the WSG2000 project was abandoned. The failure of those two projects, and some other defeates (such as the one of the P7-M13 pistol, which was proposed for the adoption trials as the new service sidearm for the USA and Austrian armies, but was not adopted) led H&K to bankrupticy. H&K didn't went out of business because it was purchased by ROYAL ORDNANCE (a.k.a. ROYAL SMALL ARMS FACTORY, a.k.a. ENFIELD), the small arms department of BRITISH AEROSPACE.
