RIA GENERAL OFFICER'S MODEL M-15
The ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL has since the '70s a GENERAL OFFICER'S PISTOL PROGRAM, and an agreement with the army, which allows it to be the ONLY manufacturer to custom produce sidearms for Armed Forces' general officers (Colonels, Major Generals, Brigadier Generals, and so on). Those pistols are given to those officers on a loan basis: the loan of the pistol is valid until retirement from active duty, at which time the General Officer can purchase the weapon or return it. There are 2 different versions of the GENERAL OFFICER'S MODEL: R.I.A. M15 It is a R.I.A. customized "Combat Commander" M1911-A1, adopted in 1975 as the standard sidearm for U.S. Armed Forces' General Officers. It can be recognized by its dark-blue finish, the inscription "General Officer Model RIA" on the slide, a brass plate on the left grip upon which the owning general?s name is engraved, and the seal of Rock Island Arsenal on the right grip. The sights on the M-15 are higher than the standard M-1911A1. TECHNICAL SPECS: Ammo: .45-ACP; Weight: 1.02 KILOGRAMS; Magazine: 7-Rounds
