Press Release 23rd November, 2001 ---Ceska Zbrojovka to Re-arm the Police of the Czech Republic--- Minister of the Interior of the Czech Republic Mr. Stanislav Gross undersigned today a Contract with the Ceska Zbrojovka a.s. company for supply of pistols designed for the Czech Republic National Police. In the course of four coming years Ceska Zbrojovka will effect delivery of 46,000 units of the CZ 75 D Compact pistol. Undersigning of this Contract follows after the time when the pistols successfully passed complementing technical tests held in October. All comments and suggestion put forward by the Police in the course of previous test procedures were successfully integrated into new design and the CZ 75 D Compact pistol thus became an indisputable zenith of this model line progress and advancement, which now meets all requirements and specifications as desired by the Police. "These tests were the most demanding and difficult we had ever gone through in tenders or selection procedures of any kind be it at home or in foreign countries. Thanks also to these the Czech Police now receives perfectly tuned-up pistol, which in my opinion does not have any competition " says Ing. Vladislav Volenec Vice-Chairman and CEO of Ceska Zbrojovka. The same type of pistol already won in technical section of tender held in May for arming of Turkish Police, however the contract had not been signed due to commercial reasons. "Obtaining such an important order," continues Ing. Vladislav Volenec, "does not mean however any slow down in implementation of steps pursuant to restructuring processes just going on in our company. At the time when the market is ruled by quality standards we cannot and really do not wish to let oneself to be lulled by the security of stable income spanning four consecutive years." Deliveries intended for the Police of the Czech Republic will constitute about 10-12 percent of our annual sales, however, the key factor here is represented by the reference power when participating in public tenders held in foreign countries. ---The Proper Pistol--- The CZ 75 D Compact pistol is a shortened version of the standard model denominated as the CZ 75 B. Magazine holds 14 cartridges cal. 9 mm Luger. Frame is hammer forged from light aluminium alloy, small dimensions (overall length 184 mm / 7.24 in.) and low weight (790 g/ 1.74 pounds) predispose this model for day-to-day carry. For securing drop safety the pistol is besides other provisions equipped with firing pin safety and safety notch on the hammer as standard. ---The Company--- Ceska Zbrojovka a.s. at the 3rd quarter of this year showed gains in the amount of CZK 31.4 mil. with the value of sales at CZK 766 mil.
