FFV ORDNANCE MODEL 890C
The swedish manufacturer FORENADE FABRIKSVERFEN AB of Sweden, the current manufacturer of the AT4 rocket launcher also in use by the US Armed Forces, introduced the FFV-890C assault rifle in the '80s, to compete in the trials set up by the Swedish Armed Forces to replace their aging CARL GUSTAFS AG3 battle rifles (swedish-made copy of the HECKLER&KOCH G3A3) with a more modern rifle. In such trial, were also competing other swedish "innovative" designs such as the INTERDYNAMIC MKS and MRK rifles, and the FN FNC, represented in both the belgian-made original version and in the swedish-made slightly-modified one (BOFORS AK5, which was the ultimate winner). As a result of the loss of the trial, the FFV-890C faded from memory, and the company sold its patent to the finnish corporation SAKO-VALMET, unknown if the acquirer did used some of the "ideas" of the diagrams of the FFV-890C rifle to update in some way their weapons, but the SAKO rifles currently in use with the Finnish Armed Forces seem to be heavily borrowed from the design of the 890C. The FFV-890C was nothing but a swedish-made copy of the israeli IMI GALIL assault rifle, bearing some little differences, mostly external and insignificant ones, although it was reported to be much more resistant to cold weathers than the original GALIL. --- TECHNICAL SPECS: CALIBER: 5'56x45mm-NATO CAPACITY: Any STANAG magazine will fit, including Beta-Cs TOTAL LENGHT: 860 Millimeters (stock open) / 625 Millimeters (stock folded) BARREL LENGHT: 340 Millimeters RIFLING: 6 grooves, RH RATE OF FIRE: 860 Rounds Per Minute
