SACO Defence Model 683
The SACO Model 683 is designed to be a easy to operate weapon, the weapon is made from steel stampings to reduce the cost of manufacture. The weapon is affixed with a telescoping stock which slides over the top of the receiver, it is a simple blowback designed which is intended for countries who do not have high grade weapons production facilities. It feeded from both 25-rounders and 32-rounders box magazines of .9x19mm-Parabellum bullets, with a weight of 3'31 Kilograms when loaded. SACO Defence halted the production of this weapon during the first half of the '90s when a copyright problem arouse with the brazilian firearms manufacturer PLANEV, "Mekanika Industria e Comercio", when it was known that the SACO M683 was nothing but an unlicensed copy of their URU submachinegun.
