MAC-10 From the U.K.
The name of the gun is MAC-10. It's not your average MAC anyhow, since this is made in the UNITED KINGDOM. The manufacturer was S. F. FIREARMS ("Section Five Limited"), located in TUNBRIDGE. If you follow the link attached, you'll find yourself at the website of some UK Airsoft aficionados which do actually possess several real firearms, taken from the Royal Ordnance - Enfield and Nottingham facilities, from Sterling Armaments and from Section Five Ltd., and deactivated. Don't start bitching about the fact they are Airsoft people, we all know that in the UK people who like guns don't have much of a choice. SECTION FIVE FIREARMS, LTD. started to manufacture MAC-10s at the end of the '70s / beginning of the '80s. I can't find any evidences of those British MACs to have been imported in the USA and registered for sale on the civilian market, and since selective-fire weapons have ALWAYS been forbidden in the UK except for a very small number of authorized collectors (20 in the entire UK), I can't see any reason but the home military contracts for the existence of these British MACs. Only, I can't even find evidences of these having been acquired by the British Armed Forces anyway! (even thought, I know, the SAS or the MI-5 and MI-6 could have bought some and we would never know). THIS other link (http://www.firearmsid.com/Feature%20Articles/012001/Mac10History.htm) indicates the existence of the SECTION FIVE MAC-10s, but doesn't specifies HOW MANY were manufactured anyway. The main differences between the American-made and the British-made MACs were: #1: As far as I was told, these British-made MACs fired from the closed bolt. #2: The grips and the magazine release catch were mutued from the Israeli MICRO-UZI rather than from the original Ingram design. #3: The British MAC were able to fit the same collapsing stock of the American MACs, but them were also able to fit a proprietary side-folding stock made of full polymer plastic. I have no other informations about the SECTION FIVE LTD. MAC-10s by now. If anybody of yours finds, please report. Any further news will be posted here for the benefit of our entire "community".
