Fusil Darne Model Platinum Type 8 12ga side by side
Fusil Darne Model Platinum Type 8 12ga side by side. If you look at Blue Book 25th Edition, page 642, you will see the details on this. The more stamps, the higher the quality. S/N 11610. Sliding Breech shotgun. French made. Double trigger. Action is strong and tight. 25 1/2" barrels. Shows bluing wear, appears normal for it's age. Bores have slight pitting near the breech. Has horn forend cap and horn buttpad. Has gold inlays for Fire and Safe (F&S). Also has a gold inlay of M M under the receiver. Has a gold inlay about in the buttstock about 1"X1 1/2" with initials T.W.S. Engraved barrel and receiver. Receiver has about 90% engraving and 90% on lower tang. Has two Setters flushing a Pheasant on the left side, and a Pheasant being pointed out on the right side. Straight English style stock. Looks like XXX Fancy Walnut with fine line checkering , maybe 24-26 lines per inch. In pic 4, you can see this has 10 quality stamps. 9 across the bottom, and one above Fusil Darne near the center. Has some corrosion on the right side barrel where it has been under the forend. Forend is removed by pressing the round button and moving the barrels backwards. Page 642 on Blue Book 25th Edition tells about Fusil Darne and the history of these fine shotguns. I forgot to mention that Darne's Highest Grade has only 11 stamps.
