STATUS GUNS & ENGINEERING Model 35-303 bolt-action rifle
-Following from: the manufacturer's website- In New Zealand and probably other one time British colonies there are considerable numbers of 303 rifles retired because of shot out barrels. This seems to be a waste, other than a few strange design quirks, the Lee Enfield is a reliable rifle and one of the very few with a ten shot magazine. With a new 35 calibre barrel at about 18 inches in length and chambered for 35-303 these old rifles make excellent bush rifles. They are light and short and are very effective. Loaded to around 1800 fps recoil and muzzle blast are negligible. With a sound moderator fitted they remain compact and are very quiet. Being light, short, low on recoil and inexpensive to produce a 35-303 makes an excellent short range rifle for women and youths. The 35-303 round can also be loaded to a velocity of approximately 2400 fps with a slight increase in recoil but achieving greater impact energy, as shown in the Ballistic charts below.
