Bilharz, Hall & Co. Rising Breech Carbine
The rising breech Carbine was made by Bilharz, Hall & Co. for Confederate forces during the Civil War. Fewer than 100 of these were manufactured and very few of those survive. The rare carbine is worth a small fortune today. It was in .54 Caliber Percussion and the action was prone to malfunction. The std carbine had a 21 inches long Barrel and production both started and halted in 1862. Here's a pic of the Breeech open as a sidenote im not sure if these first type rifles (since they made others more successfull carbines) ever were C.S.A. marked.
Pic is from 2001 Greensboro Historical Museum Exhibition of Bilharz, Hall and Company Weapons
