The production plants are at two locations in the north-west part of the Republic of Croatia, one of them is here in Gotalovec and the other in Cret, near Krapinske toplice. Elmech were manufacturing ammunition like .308Win .300Win magnum and 338 Lapua Magnum, as well as mortar rounds & artillery projectiiles. the only arms produced were a line of specialized sniper rifles. Within the special small arms program, development of sniper rifles was initiated at the beginning of the 1990's The first sniper rifle prototypes of EM-992 (.308Win) and EMM-992 (.300WinMagnum) were produced in 1991. The same year serial production of EM-992 sniper rifle begun, while, the serial production of EMM-992 started one year later. In 1993 development of EM-994 sniper rifle was initiated, it was basically the same rifle in chambered in caliber .338 Lapua Magnum and later also in .300Winchester Magnum. They were also working on a bullpup version, but it is still unclear whether they ever made any rifles in this configuration. They are standard wooden-stocked bolt-action sniper rifles in use by Croatian military and police.The 992-series features adjustable trigger, match-grade barrel with muzzle brake, commonly fitted with Leupold Vari-X 3.5-10x and a Harris light bipod. The stock is made of tough weatherproofed laminated wood and raised cheekpiece.
